4 point angular contact ball bearing (FPACBB) is a single row angular contact ball bearing (ACBB). Due to the four-point contact, they can support radial and axial loads in both directions. This feature allows such bearings to be used in transmissions located beside the bevel gears. The four-point angular contact ball bearing (FPACBB) inner ring is separate, allowing a larger number of balls and therefore a higher load carrying capacity. The bearings are separate, that is, the outer ring with the ball and cage assembly can be mounted separately from the two inner ring halves.
The advantage of 4 point angular contact ball bearings (FPACBB) is that they require less space than a double row angular contact ball bearing (DRACBB) or a pair of single row angular contact ball bearings.
The standard 4 point angular contact ball bearing (FPACBB) has a 35° contact angle and is designed for primary axial loads. They have different internal axial clearances and cage materials for easy selection.
A custom designed 4 point angular contact ball bearing is available. These bearings can be used with different contact angles, silicon nitride balls, lightweight cages and different ferrule materials and heat treatments.
