The rod radial end bearing with a steel/steel or steel/copper sliding contact surface combination requires maintenance.
The steel/steel rod radial end bearing consists of a rod end seat and a standard steel/steel radial spherical sliding bearing, in which the outer ring is fixed on the bearing seat. These rod ends can be equipped with:
Female thread or male thread rod radial end bearing
Female thread with grooved shank (special series for hydraulic cylinder)
Welded shank with cylindrical or rectangular section
Steel/copper rod radial end bearing is equipped with female thread or male thread.
It includes a rod end joint bearing seat and a steel/copper spherical plain bearing. The inner ring of these bearings is made of steel and the outer ring is made of copper. Fix the bearing in place by riveting the bearing seat on both sides of the outer ring. These rod ends are equipped with male or female threads.
Supplementary lubrication device for rod radial end bearing
The rod radial end bearing requiring maintenance is equipped with a grease nipple or lubrication hole in the rod end joint bearing seat. It can also be relubricated via pins. Exceptions include steel/steel rod ends in the SA .. E and SI .. E series and some small rod ends shown in the product tables.

Allowable operating temperature range: Depends on rod end joint bearing housing, bearings, bearing seals and grease
After the temperature exceeds 100 °C (210 °F), the load carrying capacity of the rod end seat will decrease. When the temperature is below 0 °C (30 °F), check to make sure that the fracture toughness of the rod end joint bearing seat is suitable for the application to be used. At the same time, the allowable operating temperature range of the grease must be considered.
